"His methodical and empirical methodology is reportedly disfavored by some at Lucasfilm (Notably Pablo Hidalgo) who would prefer a less scientific view of the Star Wars franchise." - a source? --SparqMan 15:22, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Whoever said this may be making an assumption based on Hidalgo's work with the Databank. – Aidje talk 03:30, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • I unfortunately cannot provide a source at this moment, but I can assure that Hidalgo has expressed such opinions several times (such as on the official site's message board). Some members here should be able to expand on this and provide sources, particularly those who are members of SDN. --Spanky The Dolphin 08:47, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)
  • a little over a year ago (Aug 04 IIRC) Pablo was involved in a discussion on the SW.com webboards about Dr Saxton's work. Rather then take a position there, he ducked over to the DHC web boards and posted a long diatribe slamming tech minded fans in general, and Dr Saxton personally repeatedly. http://www.darkhorse.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=4010&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15&sid=e4188675687fca52437b042dee539a12

How official are the SWTC? I'm assuming they have any officalness at all. Kuralyov 19:18, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Saxton has contributed to a few official publications (Inside the Worlds of Star Wars, I believe, which is where the Star Dreadnaught stuff originated) though his website isn't canon at all - despite the fact that any number of fans take his science-based judgements of a fantasy universe as gospel - Kwenn 19:20, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
    • SWTC is a fansite, nothing more. The Dorling Kindersley books Saxton worked on, however, are canon. That's the difference some people have great problems comprehending. He uses a more scientific approach to analyze the various situations and to check if different sources stay internally consistent, but I don't think he takes the different phenomena as possibly occuring in real-life, only as part of SoD, where in the SW universe, they are real.
