Darth Vader video game

  • Erm...is it just me or is this the same thing as Darth Vader video game? —MarcK [talk] 06:29, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
  • what major roll does Darth Vader have in this game?
    • I think, though Vader is not the Principal Character, this game will try to go a long way in revealing more of Vader's history through the eyes of the PC. In some sense, therefore, the game is about him. --Israi 01:40, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I have a few problems with what I see already; first of all, I know it's semantics, but Vader's Apprentice is not and cannot be a Sith Apprentice. There can only be two, so if this is supposed to be canonical, it needs to get straightened out. He would be most like Asajj Ventress, in that he would be apprenticed to a Sith, but not be a Sith since there are already two. Second of all, Vader cannot use force lightning, so why would his apprentice be able to? The only answer there is he gleaned it from a holocron or other source of Sith information. I suggest having him come across the ability in-game. Third and final for now is the apparent proposition that lightsaber fighting will be taking a back seat to force power usage. That doesn't make since, since once again, Vader wouldn't teach combat like that since Vader himself is supposed to be a lightsaber virtuoso. I just hope that's just a poorly judged assumption on my part, because non-stop force power usage might get dull without some lightsaber action mixed in.
    • The Rule of Two is nothing more than a technicality... just because Vader couldn't technically call his apprentice the "Sith Apprentice" doesn't mean he isn't a Sith or Vader's apprentice. The Rule of Two is a self-imposed rule, not any real barrier. Besides, Vader has had at least one secret apprentice outside of this new one, Tao. Additionally, his attempts to capture Luke were part of his plan to make Luke his apprentice, and then overthrow the Emperor. So there is plenty of precedent for the new character as a Sith apprentice... just not the Sith apprentice. The problem about Vader teaching the apprentice skills outside his own strengths is a bit of an eyebrow-raiser but not totally beyond the realm of possibility. As you suggested, it is possible if not probable that either Vader or the apprentice has learned from a holocron, as those seem to have been making more and more appearances in EU material. And, from concept art, I assume there is plenty of lightsaber action to be had, in addition to force powers. Israi 04:52, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Also look at Darth Sidious and Maul. They were master and apprentice while Sidious was still under the training of Darth Plagueis.

Lord Titze the Dark Wanderer 04:18, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

  • The only reason Vader could not use force lightning is because his arms and hands were mechanical prosthetics
  • Is there a specifice place I can get more info on Darth Plagueis? I haven't found much about him yet. I have assumptions, but no canon. One final thought... Obi-Wan would make an excellent cameo appearance. It's stated in the movies that Vader and Obi haven't seen one another since the time of Anakin's defeat at Obi's hands, but nothing is said of Vader's Apprentice. It would make for a great battle, an actual unavoidable loss, a possible chance to be turned to the light, and reason for a sequel. I think it could be an amazing plot tool.
    • Because it's not like cameos of celebrity characters don't occur in Star Wars games ALL the freaking time. Plot tool schmot tool. A cameo is nothing more than an appeasement to fanboys who would rather see their old favorite characters than actually get to know the new ones who are telling the story. --Israi 18:28, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Hey what can I say... Obi-wan's the true Chosen One. It would be cool if Vader chose his Apprentice based on not how powerful he was but because his Apprentice had a potential to become what Vader could not, a savior to the galaxy.

Game Confirmation

The newest Game Informer cover confirms the game's title and that you are Vader's secret apprentice.

PC Version

Is it known yet if this game will be released for PC or not? - 85.250.103.34

  • No official word yet.--Ranat 23 00:42, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Doubtful GMo 05:45, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I sure hope they do, but I doubt it. They seem to snob PC users these days. Still, since it will be released on the X360, I guess there's some hope. Microsoft might make a push to have this on Vista.
  • Hey, man, what do you have against PC people? I mean, look at yourself, you're on a PC right now. Saying I doubt it is like saying George Lucas never said, "Star Wars will never go to home video." Watch what you type. DarthMalevlent 01:01, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
  • The UK version of amazon.com has the PC version of the game availible for pre-order ([1]), but it is probably just a mistake or something. plus this slashdot page [2] says "the game will come primarily to 360 and PC". But since there have been no official announcments, there is no way to know if they will release a PC version. I really hope they do release a PC version, because I really don't want to go out and buy an Xbox 360 just to play this one game (I do all my gaming on PC, and I don't own any game consols).70.17.131.251 21:53, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
    • it's not a mistake. If amazon.co.uk posted The Force Unleashed as a PC game, then #it will be coming out on PC (in the UK at least). The only way this will change is if LucasArt change their mind about the PC version. {{SUBST:DarthAbsig}} 08:04, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
      • Actually Amazon did the same thing for the movies on Blu-Ray and were told off after Lucasfilm said that they had no intention of releasing them on either HD format (even though they have not removed them they were wrong). Amazon might be wrong buy I believe that it will be on PC as it is a major game and the only times they don't release something on the PC is when it is for a special system e.g. hand held. Bioevil087 (Mara’s Ex)20px 13:16, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
        • Star Wars Episodes II and III, Star Wars Clone Wars... They were on all three major consoles but not PC. Giga Hertz 21:40, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
          • TFU will not be released for computer. TFU was made to be a console game and has controls too complicated for a mouse and keyboard. TheNewDarthMalevlent(The Sith shall rise to power!) 00:57, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
            • WTFudge? How could any controls be too difficult for 101 keys and a mouse? As opposed to two thumbsticks, ten-twenty buttons jammed on one small controller? Giga Hertz 08:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
              • Well, that's an example. Some things you can't do with a keyboard. The Thumbsticks are quite the tickets here, because we (well, some of us) don't have them somehow placed on our computers. TheNewDarthMalevlent(The Sith shall rise to power!) 13:52, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
              • The thumbsticks as a general rule are for walking and looking around. Now, my 15 years of gaming may not be much experience, but I would've thought that the mouse could do all the looking and the keyboard could do all the walking? Assuming they stick with the convention and use the thumbsticks for said purposes I doubt that any kind of move would be impossible on a keyboard and mouse. Giga Hertz 21:15, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
  • The continued discussion shouldn't continue, though, because none of us have a large influence on it. Let's face it, TFU just can't be computer-compatible. TheNewDarthMalevlent(The Sith shall rise to power!) 16:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
    • Your right, this discussion shouldn't continue. But you're wrong, TFU could easily be mapped onto a QWERTY and mouse. Jasca Ducato Sith Council 19:20, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Felucia

  • I just saw the most recent "Secrets of Star Wars 07" image showing Felucia and it looks more like it was rendered as opposed to a peice of concept art. Could this be a screenshot of the Felucia footage that IGN reported back when they first broke news of the game at E3? DarthMaul431 02:33, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

"Greatly Exaggerated"

PLEASE don't tell me that the "Rutian Twi'lek Jedi" is our dearly departed friend Ayyla Secura. If it is, so help me, I will shoot myself multiple times. Of course, I might just somehow survive that happening to me...Darth Ceratis 01:45, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

  • It's possible... I mean Lucas did talk with the actress about the Live-Action show.. remember all those rumors? GMo 05:45, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
    • I recall some discussion, somewhere, about cyborg things. Sorry, I have no idea where I read it. But perhaps they're going to try to pull a Darth Maul on us. --Israi 17:34, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
      • No purpose in being greatly exaggerated. Unless you missed ROTS, Aayla Secura is shot brutally several times in the back by her clone legion on Felucia. Unless you're thinking of Shaak Ti, whose future is unknown, then there's no hope for Aayla. Sorry! DarthMalevlent 01:03, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
        • Yeah they continue to shoot her after she dies to. The Mysterious Droid 02:00, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
          • I hate to play the devil's advocate here, but they brought back Palpatine after he was officially dead as well. Adamwankenobi 02:38, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
  • You are completley right, but if you look into it you will find that Palps had clones of himself at the ready. Unless there are secret Aayla's hidden i doubt that she will return. User:Ivel
  • Somthing interesting that everybody should keep in mind is that Kari Wahlgren will appearantly also be doing Aayla's voice in the game [3]. I'm not suggesting that they will be bringing Aayla back from the dead, it might just be a flashback or something, but it seems that Aayla will be in the game though. 141.154.146.107 15:06, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Hope

I hope that they will change their minds and release it to pc.

I hope this game would be awesome. --Leon Skywalker 02:48, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Hehe, it will be a shocking revelation when i see Han the darksider in this game (and who later promises not to use his powers anymore :D).

Some interesting details in here. For starters, it appears that company reps have stated that our boy here isn't a Sith. Also some mentioning of his secrecy in the form of making sure no troopers are aware of his status. Plus, they revealed some information on the natives of Felucia, and gave information on a new planet of Raxis Prime. Also, they linked us for our Shaak Ti article. Reason for the delay

  • On the most recent episode [4] of IGN's podcast "Game Scoop!", they were talking about how in general it is hard to develop games for the PS3. They mentioned that the reason why The Force Unleashed is being delayed is because LucasArts can't get the PS3 version of it running by the fall (when it was originally planned to be released). And instead of only delaying the PS3 version, LucasArts decided that all versions of the game would be delayed. If anyone wants to check it out it is mentioned at about 1:04:00 into the podcast. I'm not sure if it is necessary to be mentioned in the article but if anyone feels it should, go ahead. DarthMaul431 18:56, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

why not xbox??

why cant lucas art put it on the normal Xbox. i mean xbox has better graphics then the ps2. i've got both of those consoles to prove it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if a lucas arts staff member sees this please put it on the Xbox

Please don't spout unsubstantiated lies. Bioevil087 (Mara’s Ex)20px 04:12, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
        • The main reason it's not coming for the old Xbox is just that: Microsoft said, "No more games for Xbox, everything for 360". This means you're not seeing it there. TheNewDarthMalevlent(The Sith shall rise to power!) 00:55, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Water Physics

Now all TFU needs is HydroEngine.

Holy crap! That HydroEngine looks amazing! The fact that it can interface with Havok means all sorts of crazy stuff could occur: flowing water + havok=mayhem and all sorts of gameplay posibilities!

New video

We've got a "behind the scenes" that was uploaded to StarWars.com right here. One interesting thing I noticed is at the 4:10 mark or so, a Jedi pushes a trooper right through several obstacles. Among other interesting things, the trooper's helmet came off. It may just be the haircut, but he reminded me of the Jango clones, so perhaps Morrison will be in this one too (plus evidence of his clone stock continuing into whenever this is).--LightWarden 05:00, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Force power

I have seen a lot of talk elsewhere about the force unleashed not having canon force abilitys. Like, the force can't actually be used this way in the canon. It is my belief that George lucas wanted to make the force like this in the movies, but understandbly, that would have been hard to pull off, whithout it looking majorly cheesy. The books show jedi and sith able to do things like this, because they are not limited by things like the way it looks. So, the force unleashed is really: The force as it is. Completely canon I'd like to see if you think i'm right.--142.22.186.7 18:37, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Everything within TFU is canon, including the Force powers. The Secret Apprentice has been described in one of the developers documentaries as liking to experiment with the Force, and uses it in ways not normally thought probable. Jasca Ducato Sith Council 10:53, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

What my point was: Vader can do stuff like this. Luke can. Obi-Wan can. The emporer can. Lots of people have been thinking that the apprentice is more powerful than any of the characters I just mentioned.216.210.97.64 19:58, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Imeant no offence, I am just saying that this is what I think that lucas means. it would make more sense, and the aforementioned characters have done similar things out of movie.
