Okay, from what I can manage from Lords of the Expanse, it seems that the bypass was charted out in approx. 2,203 BBY. The book says that the Giju Passage was discovered in 4,003 BBY, and that the Freeworlds region would remain backwater until the Shapani was routed out 18 centures later, and since 4,003 minus 1,800 is 2,203, that's how I got the year. Anyone have more specific information? Toasty McGrath 04:06, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
The year the Shapani Bypass opens doesn't quite line up?
It's said that the Shapani Bypass opened in 2203 BBY, which should be the Tapani year (going by the start of the Imperial Era, 12,689, is 19 BBY) 10505. However, Lord of the Expanse material states that it was opened during the Federal Era (11,139 - 12,668) -- a little over 600 years before the end of the Dynastic Era that preceeded it.
Presumably, the Republic isn't going to be sending scouts to chart out a bypass through Tapani space until they had joined the Republic, which occurred in 11,234. So this means that the absolute earliest (and quite unrealistic, as one should assume some time passed after joining first) year that the Shapani Bypass could have opened would be 1474 BBY.
