Perhaps not Force illusion - metamorphosis?
In the comics, we actually see her transform, so it might not have been a case Force illusion, but rather metamorphosis. I hereby include the panel. As you can see, she turns progressively into her true shape, and this progressive shapechanging is visible. While it doesn't definitely prove it's metamorphosis, I think we can question the "Force illusion" assertion.--LelalMekha 17:32, April 2, 2012 (UTC)
- If I may add, Leland Chee's article in Star Wars Insider 122 says:
"Ros Lai (...) displays the same transformative abilities as the early EU witches [i.e. Charal], though she uses her magic to make herself appear hideous to hide her beauty an true power rather than the other way around." (Emphasis is mine) --LelalMekha 23:19, April 2, 2012 (UTC)
- Infinity's End makes it clear that all the "magic" we see is just very potent mind tricks. It would have to include this instance, no? --R5-X41238-G8-R3-3124-D2 22:13, April 17, 2012 (UTC)
- I guess it would. Perhaps I was desperately trying to fond evidence of metamorphosis as a Force-power outside of the ambiguously canon material (Unidentified Nightsister (Shira)). You're probably right, on second thought.--LelalMekha 22:17, April 17, 2012 (UTC)
- If Ros Lai was using a Force power, I'd say it was the dopplegänger projection trick. She gets "killed" in the first issue in the same manner that she "kills" Quin in the last one, which Zalem calls "an illusion spell." If it were up to me, I'd move the whole thing over to "mind trick," as there are plenty of sources identifying the Nightsisters' magic as illusions created through the Force, but lack of 100%-rock-hard-all-across-the-board-conclusive evidence would not permit it according to the rules, I gather. --R5-X41238-G8-R3-3124-D2 23:35, April 17, 2012 (UTC)
- One should note that Talzin seems able to conjure real weapons out of the thin air, though. Weapons that actually can hurt -- see spirit ichor. Should we take them as non-existent mind tricks too? I would be a sensible explanation, but I doubt the writers of TCW saw it in this fashion, though.--LelalMekha 23:50, April 17, 2012 (UTC)
