Resistance ships?

Should we include known models of Resistance starships in the New Republic fleet? It seems likely they would use the same types of ships since the Resistance is funded by the New Republic. Geffix (talk) 08:46, December 19, 2015 (UTC)

Name of page

Was there ever any indication that New Republic Defense Fleet is the formal or official name of the fleet? I know it is mentioned in the Visual Dictionary, but was it stated as such? Reddyredcp (talk) 17:56, December 21, 2015 (UTC)

we be more realistic and uniform in articles concerning new republic armed forces

there was evidence that was major disagreement with armed forces and the government there could many reasons why force to do what government said

1. to avoid abuses like empire

2.the wanted t preserve there careers

3.they where divide on what to do

4.somewhat lacking the funding

5.beleved central government precedence over military

6.and other reasons

7.it would dangerous to have the porton you say of that fleet in one location

8.i also think they wanted avoid sending everyone into a panic

9. and there version of destroying first order might been more long term once they could get the fleet build up all modernized

These are reasonable assumptions, but that is what they are: assumptions. Technically, this is all speculation and not canon. It makes for good discussion, but we can't include it as facts on the actual articles, in my opinion anyway. Reddyredcp (talk) 06:10, March 10, 2016 (UTC)

Is it a single fleet?

I'm not sure if there is an official source confirming this information, but I will go ahead and ask: is the New Republic Starfleet actually a single fleet, similar to the Alliance Fleet, or a collection of fleets such as with the Imperial Navy? Reddyredcp (talk) 07:50, May 28, 2016 (UTC)

Going to raise this again since the page has been moved. Given that we now have the New Republic Defense Fleet and the New Republic home fleet, should it be assumed that there exists an overall larger "New Republic Starfleet" or "New Republic Navy," which have been referenced throughout canonical materials, that encompasses the aforementioned fleets? And if so, should these articles be created separately rather than speculatively (unless there is definitive evidence that I am unaware of) refer to the former as "also known as the New Republic Starfleet, etc.?" - Mon Mothma was talking about the military as a whole (as Brules said), the whole military was proposed to be reduced by 90%, and also in the Visual Dictionary it says the Republic navy not the Imperial navy (again like Brules said) --Lewisr (talk) 02:20, July 26, 2016 (UTC)

Why no appearance in the movies?

If the majority of the fleet wasn't located in the Hosnian system when it was destroyed, then why doesn't it go after the First Order? You'd think annihilating the First Order would be its number one priority after what they did instead of sitting back and letting the puny Resistance do all the work.
