Question

Just an idle question, but... If this child is meant to be Hera's and Kanan's, when did that happen chronologically and... How come he has no Twi'lek traits? Like Shaeeah Lawquane and Jek Lawquane (who were confirmed to be human/twi'lek hybrids). Relonimar 09:25, March 10, 2018 (UTC)

  • In "Family Reunion – and Farewell", it is implied that Hera and Kanan probably cohabited some time before Kanan's death in "Jedi Night". In the Season Four episode "The Occupation", Hera and Kanan share a romantic moment together so it must have been around that time. Regarding Jacen's physical features, I guess Dave Filoni would be the best person to answer that question. He gave Jacen green hair as a hint to his Twi'lek ancestry through Hera. • That hair color is completely nonsensical BTW. Do I have peach colored hair because my mother has peach colored skin? :p --Lelal Mekha The Uprising crest (Audience Room) 09:33, March 10, 2018 (UTC)
      • Probably human genes were the more dominant in this case that Twi'leks traits, not every hybrid is going to be the same--DarthRuiz30 (talk)
        • This question is best asked in Discussions, rather than the talk page. I posted here, where people can reply with their opinions and analysis. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 10:17, March 10, 2018 (UTC)
          • I think its a bit early to be posting outright spoilers there. Maybe copy-and-paste it into the dedicated thread for the finale for now. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 10:22, March 10, 2018 (UTC)
            • There is nothing about that in the Discussions Guidelines. This is not your and CLG's personal blog. I've restored the post, albeit with a tweaked title. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 10:32, March 10, 2018 (UTC)
              • Thank you for that; moderation was requested by another user, and I was unsure how to proceed. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 10:39, March 10, 2018 (UTC)
                • Fair enough! Deletion and the level of moderation has been a subject of some debate and discussion, which hopefully will be resolved soon. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 10:40, March 10, 2018 (UTC)

3.3 Factual correction - Kanan not stated as Jacen's father

Nowhere in Family Reunion - And Farewell is it explicitly stated that Kanan Jarrus/Caleb Dume is Jacen's father. While I can agree that is the implication made, this can't be stated in the article and sourced from the episode itself.

Suggested Edit: Remove the text "Kanan Jarrus is his father" and reformat to make the remainder of the sentence complete. KnnOs (talk) 07:39, March 12, 2018 (UTC)

  • No. It passes the duck test. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Jacen is Kanan's son. I was also at the Q&A after the finale when they explicitly talked about it. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 07:43, March 12, 2018 (UTC)

The episode should only be cited for what it actually supports, which is a narration from Sabine:

Hera fought in the battle of Endor, as did Commander Rex. By that time, there had been a new member added to the crew of the Ghost. Spectre-Seven, Jacen Syndulla. Born to fly, just like his mother. And, well, we all know what his father was like.

I think we can agree that this has stronger evidence of Hera being Jacen's mom (the surname, the 'born to fly' specification) than of who the dad is. The support there is implied by him being human and of Hera only having one known human romance.

It's not clear who the "we" is that Sabine is referring to as she narrates. The viewers of the TV series? Her close friends? I think citing any official Q&A for interpreting this would be valuable because the episode itself is definitely not specific enough despite how obvious it seems. talk2ty 17:21, April 3, 2018 (UTC)

Appropriate downtime for conception

Above Andy mentioned:

In the Season Four episode "The Occupation", Hera and Kanan share a romantic moment together so it must have been around that time.

About how many minutes in are we talking about? These two never seemed to get time alone together and a big deal was made about Hera not admitting her love until after being rescued, and regretting all the wasted time for not saying it sooner.

Is the argument being made here that Jacen was conceived prior to Hera professing her love? Or even before Kanen professed his? They always seemed to be off doing missions or sleeping in communal caves with Rebels, I can't imagine a moment when enough alone time existed for reproduction to occur in the human way.

Is it possible that Twi'lek might conceive in some other way like kissing would be enough to absorb human genes? talk2ty 17:26, April 3, 2018 (UTC)
