Name

Where is it ever called the Imperial Service? Shouldn't it be Imperial Military, as it was before? --Danik Kreldin 22:04, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Anyone? I've never seen any canon source ever refer to it as the Imperial Service - why would the Empire use "Service" in substitute of Military? It doesn't even make much sense - why would the combined armed forces of the Empire be considered a single "Service"? The Imperial Armed Forces would make more sense, not as much as Military, but whatever. Even the Old Republic uses Military over "Service". I'll wait and see if anyone comes up with a good explanation before moving it back to Imperial Military. -Danik Kreldin 15:57, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
    • That is its stated name in Children of the Jedi Kuralyov 21:38, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
      • Do you have a page number I can check it up at? --74.68.17.86 21:51, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Sorry to interrupt the conversation, but I have a confession. I was the one who created the Republic Military entry. I know that it existed, but the name is speculation even to me. Armed Forces was done for the Clone Wars, so I figured if it's not a Defense Force, it must be a military (also I created it before the Imperial Military became the Imperial Service, so serivce never came to me). Jedi Wolf 12:45, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
    • This really needs to be moved back to "Imperial military". Just because it's called the "Imperial Service" once doesn't mean it was the official name. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 22:48, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
      • I fully agree. Imperial Service just doesn't sound right at all. The Imperial Sourcebook, 2nd Edition, refers to it as "The Military," not "The Service." Whatever Children of the Jedi was talking about, I dunno, I would need to see a page number so I can look it up. I know people say "Yeah, I'm joining the service," but the official name is not the "Service." It's Military, or Armed Forces, or whatever. --Danik Kreldin
        • Anyone? --Danik Kreldin 22:31, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
          • As far as I can tell, Imperial Forces, Imperial Service, and Imperial Military are used interchangably (no, I'm not checking all of my sources tonight to count up the number of times each synonym is used.) Imperial Armed Forces may even have been used somewhere, come to that. Imperial Military is probably the most common and least ambiguous, though. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:36, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
            • Shall we bring it to a vote then, or what? --Danik Kreldin 22:47, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
              • Sorry to bring this back, but an anon's been removing "Imperial military" references and replacing them with "Imperial Service". Anyway, I think it should be moved back to Imperial military—it's the most common term. Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 23:51, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, let's do it then. Imperial Military is definitely the more common and obvious term. --Danik Kreldin

Re-vote

Sorry to be a pain in the ass, but I was hoping you guys could vote again on whether to call this the Military or the Service, this time without deciding on one because of what I did. Jedi Wolf 12:13, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Maw Installation

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but it states outright that the Maw Installation was responsible for the design and construction of Executor- and Eclipse-class Command ships, despite this information be patently untrue.

They should, however, have been credited for the design of the Sun Crusher and of the World Devastators, which were definitely designed under their purview. Blastsword Champion

Quote

Possible new intro quote, how about this:

"The Empire will always stike back!"
―Gilad Pellaeon[src]

If not for the main quote, I think it should be in the article somewhere The 95 Headhunter 21:54, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

  • You're right, that is a good quote. Maybe it should even be the main one. Chack Jadson 23:47, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Remove stub classification?

Anyone second? Micah Giett 02:52, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

New Army Page

Since the Empire remerged itself now in legacy comics is there a new army for them or is it the same just diferrent ships?

  • Well, actually, this article is about the military as a whole, not just the Army... But that's not the point. I suppose there is a precedent for creating a new article, hence why there are articles for the three forms of the Empire: Galactic Empire, Imperial Remnant, New Galactic Empire. Those were created because despite their being rooted in the same series of events (i.e. the Palpatine's New Order), each regime is, nonetheless, vastly different from the other. The military of the Legacy comics seems to operate differently from previous military institutions, but I do not believe it's enough to warrant another article.--SOCLcomm 15:56, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Imperial colors

Death Star Designer provides a few information on the color symbolism in the imperial military; Could we add any of those discretely here?

Imperial Grey: No one is ever fired or telekinetically executed for choosing Imperial Grey. It's the traditional color for imperial ships and stations. Sith Black: In Sith traditions, warriors of the Dark Side would adorn themselves in fearsome black armor. Sith black adds a touch of their ancient dread to any battle station. Stormtrooper White: Devoided of color entirely. Stormtrooper White is the perfect choice for the battlestation designer that knows that what we don't see is more terrifying than what we do. Republic Red: Palpatine long understood the value of co-opting the legacy of republican traditions. This brilliant hue follows his teachings. LelalMekha 15:52, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Number Troops

Is there anywhere we could find the numbers of soldiers the Empire have? Starship Troopers 13:37, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Doubtful. The number was probably fluctuating all the time anyway. Unit 8311 13:40, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

ROE

Is there a source that can be cited for the claim that the Imperial Rules of Engagement demanded a 3 to 1 numerical superiority for TIE fighters to engage? 181stAce 08:34, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Numbers

On the page Imperial Army troopers, it claims that they are the most common infantry in the Imperial Military. However, on the Imperial Military page it claims that Stormtroopers are the most common. Neither are cited. Which (if any) is correct? 166.82.131.101 05:11, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Rename?

The difference between the title of this article and the sequel-cannon article isn't even a single letter, it's the capitalization of a single letter: the sequel-cannon article has a lowercase m in "military". Shouldn't this be moved to "Imperial Military/Legends, and "Imperial Military" be made into a redirect to the sequel-cannon article Imperial military?
