Volumes
This sentence makes no sense: "HoloNet News was in its 531st volume in 22 BBY, meaning that, assuming no breaks due to interruption, it began publication in 509 BBY." If HNN has 531 volumes by 22 BBY, then it should have started in 553 BBY. Let's see this by using simply subtraction. 553-531=22 -- Riffsyphon1024 04:44, 15 Jul 2005 (UTC)
However Volume doesn't always mean per year, an example of this is the comic book X-Men and Uncanny X-Men, Uncanny X-Men is listed as X-men Volume 1 from 1963 to the 1980's)even today it's called Uncanny X-Men V.1 then X-Men Volume 2 started in 1991 and is still called V.2; so HoloNet might be older then 553 BBY?
- Doubt it. The easiest way would be to go by year. So, it was most likely started c. 553 BBY. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 19:59, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Not to point out an obvious flaw:
"…that the Senate has voted to send a peace-keeping force to the planet Onderon. This quick-strike force will reinforce a band of Jedi Knights already on the planet. Onderon was once under the rule of Freedon Nadd, a follower of the outlawed Sith. Practioners of forbidden Sith magic are said to be still active on Iziz, Onderon's single great city. Rumors suggest that the spirit of the long dead Sith Lord Freedon Nadd continues to control the city. HoloNet News Vol. 531 50.Based on Coruscant, HoloNet News was in its 531st volume in 22 BBY, meaning that, assuming no interruptions in publication and that one volume represented one standard year's worth of news, it began publication in 553 BBY. Ciphe 21:20, July 12, 2010 (UTC)
Source or Appearance?
Should issues of the HoloNet News be listed under the Sources or Appearances section? --Imp 13:44, 22 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- It was decided to list them under Appearances, since they occur "in-universe" similar to the novels, comics, etc. --Azizlight 13:47, 22 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- I say "Appearances". Admiral J. Nebulax 19:39, 22 Dec 2005 (UTC)
KotOR?
If HoloNet News originated in the mid-500 BBYs, how could it be around 3,000+ years prior? I'm removing the Knights series until someone can provide proof it existed during the timeline. // ~mikah~ 03:00, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
The lady who owns the Equipment Emporium was featured in one of their broadcasts.Maybe it was a newspaper, maybe it was fullblown holo-news but just because you think something shouldn't exist doesn't mean it doesn't. NaruHina Talk

- Wait a sec. We're talkin bout two different things. I know it appeared in KOTOR2 on Onderon. NaruHina Talk

- The article still contradicts itself, however. Either it originated in 553 BBY and the appearance in The Sith Lords is of a different broadcast, or it was around for several millenia before the article says. Unless I'm misreading? // ~mikah~ 14:14, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Wrong!
The speculation based on the Volume is wrong. Vol 531 , number 45 was published in the second month of the year. The last known issue is number 56 and, based on the gives dates, this is a weekly magazine. So one volume is longer than a standard year, but we don't really know how long it is. The speculation should be removed. Darth Morrt 03:34, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

Does HoloNet News appear as the news network for the Galactic Republic in Star Wars: The Old Republic or is it another network? --Rakhsh (talk) 12:35, October 9, 2018 (UTC)
