Problems
This article seems to be confusing two different conflicts. In Darth Plagueis, there seem to be two main passages relevant. The first, on page 109 is a dialogue from Ars Veruna:
“Roughly sixty standard years ago, at the height of a war between the Naboo and the Gungans, our monarch was killed, and it has now emerged that some members of the very same royal houses that now oppose Tapalo struck a deal with a mercenary group to intervene in the war should the Naboo suffer further setbacks. Fortunately, the conflict was resolved without he need for outside help. In fact, as a result of that conflict, the monarchy has since been an elected rather than hereditary post.”
Thatis the source for the "Gungan-Naboo War." However, on page 129 Cosinga Palpatine lectures Hego Damask: “Seventy years ago, some two decades after own conflict with them, the Gungans found themselves embroiled in a war for survival with a mercenary army. Fortunately, the Gungans prevailed, though not without many deaths and the loss of some of their swamp cities. Very little was ever made public regarding the cause of the war or the source of the mercenaries, but I’m willing to let you in on one of Naboo’s darker secrets. The reason for the war was plasma, and the Houses that contributed most to funding the mercenary army were House Tapalo and House Veruna.” And he is talking about a different conflict.
So, in a war fought around 125 BBY or so, the Gungans and Naboo fought a war in which the last heir to the Jafan Dynasty was killed ("our monarch") and a new monarch elected. However, just in case, some royal houses hired mercenaries to intervene if necessary--but it was not. Then, though there was another war perhaps a "Gungan-Mercenary War," fought sometime between 135 BBY and 105 BBY (Cosinga must be misspeaking one of the times--or perhaps Veruna is) when House Tapalo, House Veruna, and others hired mercenaries to remove the Gungans to make way to plasma mining. And were defeated. m108.56.196.116 22:29, July 18, 2013 (UTC)
Darth Plagueis novel states that the Gungans eventually won the war against the mercenaries, so we shall change of unknown to pyrrical gungan victory because some of the gungans cities were destroyed and their losses heavy
