3.3 Factual correction

Why is the title of this page "Executor-class Star Dreadnought" when the official databank [1] calls the ship a "super star destroyer" Unsigned comment by 213.219.7.163 (talk • contribs)

  • Because the Databank normally uses the the more common name of a particular subject—which is why it has an entry at "Rebel Alliance" and not "Alliance to Restore the Republic." Wookieepedia, however, favors formal names whenever it's possible, and that ship was formally referred to as Executor-class Star Dreadnought in Ultimate Star Wars. --LelalMekha (talk) 17:05, February 4, 2016 (UTC)

Possible contradiction?

In Lost Stars, Thane Kyrell says that the Rebellion/Republic had never captured a Star Destroyer. Life Debt says that the NR captured three SSDs. 24.250.55.194 00:27, August 9, 2016 (UTC)

  • I think he says this in the chapter of the Battle of Jakku right? If so then that's a contradiction for sure, you may need to speak to Pablo about that to see what he has to say --Lewisr (talk) 00:43, August 9, 2016 (UTC)
    • Is it possible Thane just didn't know. He was just a soldier, and he wouldn't have known all the NR victories. --Tommy-Macaroni (talk) 11:50, August 15, 2016 (UTC)

Number of Super Star Destroyers

Since the New Republic's intelligence on "more than a dozen" Super Star Destroyers is mentioned here, should it be noted somewhere that according to Rae Sloane? that there were thirteen Super Star Destroyers total that had been constructed prior to the events of the Aftermath trilogy. They also gave an accounting for all thirteen. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to cite a "primary source" as opposed to a secondary one in the body of the article? It also might be more appropriate for it to be on the umbrella Super Star Destroyer page and not here but I don't know what is more appropriate in that case. --SUPCOM0356 (talk) 17:52, February 28, 2017 (UTC)

Executor Class Fighter Compliment?

I wonder how many TIE Squads would make up a full war-time compliment for the Executor class. Could anyone fill me in? DJHonore (talk) 18:55, April 13, 2017 (UTC)

Executor-class armament

The source cited for "over 5000 turbolasers and ion cannons" is the online encyclopaedia - but Lucasfilm has taken it down - so it's only available via the Wayback Machine.

Shouldn't more recent - post Newcanon Announcement sources, take precedence?

Ultimate Star Wars gives "more than 1,000 weapons, including turbolasers, ion cannons, and concussion missile tubes" as the figure (page 304).

This is fairly consistent with the Legends figures, assuming that "fire-linked into groups of 8" is an alternative way of describing a single weapon - an octet turret like those on the ISD-II. Doing it that way, produces 250 octet heavy turbolasers, 250 octet "regular" turbolasers, 250 ion cannons, 250 concussion missile tubes, 500 point defence lasers, 40 tractor beam projectors - 1540 weapons total (a tractor beam projector counting as a nonlethal weapon).

Putting each concussion missile tube, each octet turbolaser, each octet heavy turbolaser and each ion cannon into a single "blister" allows 1000 blisters.

Which is fairly consistent with Star Wars Technical Commentaries's estimate of at least 942 (assuming symmetry) blisters on the Executor model:

  • "More than 1000" doesn't really contradict the old Encyclopedia's number of 5000, so I don't see what the problem is here. Legends figures are completely irrelevant, so unless a new Canon source contradicts the number 5000, it can stay. 1358 (Talk) 17:08, March 25, 2018 (UTC)

New Republic

Do you think that three Star Dreadnoughts are part of the New Republic Defense Fleet?--172.222.132.44 03:31, December 31, 2018 (UTC)

Also, where in the places at the battles that five Star Dreadnoughts were destroyed and captured three others?--Jedi Admiral 905 (talk) 20:45, January 20, 2020 (UTC)

Speed?

It says in the article that an Executor class ship "could reach speeds of 100 kilometers per hour". That's not very fast, my car drives faster than that. There should be nothing in space to limit the top speed if you just keep burning those engines, and this ship is hardly meant for use in the atmosphere. So, maybe just remove that part? —ZeroOne (talk) 10:26, September 30, 2019 (UTC)

  • There's a limit to how fast you go because there's a limit to the fuel you can carry. But I agree that 100 km/h is laughably slow (and I only went to this talk page to post about it). It would take over 10 minutes for that thing to move its own length. And it's nowhere near capable of reaching escape velocity, let alone matching velocity with a planet it wants to orbit after leaving hyperspace. DanielLC (talk) 06:35, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Infobox

I think that Template:Starship class should be used here instead of Template:Ship series. I know that there where multiple models (the I and the II ) most 99% of all lore treats it as one class and gives one value for its armament and size. Does anyone think differently? -ThrawnChiss7 (talk) 20:55, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

  • (similar to the Imperial-class Star Destroyer) -ThrawnChiss7 (talk) 20:55, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
    • The Imperial-class page uses ship series, so similar how? If a page is a line it should use the line infobox Lewisr (talk) 21:08, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
      • Sorry, for some reason I thought that the Imperial-class was different. A better example would be the Providence-class Dreadnought, which does have a varient just like the Executor, but still uses template:Ship. For example, starships and speeders state that the Executor-class Star Dreatnought had a length of 19,000 meters, and possesed a specific variety of armaments. Perhaps the better solution would be to instead update template:ship series. -ThrawnChiss7 (talk) 21:53, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
        • No worries! I think we could update the ship series one, though I don't personally know what would be added to it, but I'm sure discussion would establish that Lewisr (talk) 21:57, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
