Boonta

Did Ebe Endocott raced the Boonta in SW Episode I? --Inmobilus 17:16, 16 Sep 2005 (UTC)

  • Yep. Check the OS. But do we have a source for that image? Looks like fanart to me - Kwenn

Source?

Endocott's career as a podracer pilot began with his job as a cargo deliveryman on his homeworld. He was focused on getting his cargo from place to place as soon as possible, and found dangerous shortcuts through his towering city that he would recklessly take in order to complete his job. Concerned that he was taking such risks but impressed that he got the job done efficiently and without a scratch each time, his boss suggested that he look into Podracing. - What's the source for this? NEGTC says he started his carreer on Ko Vari. --Sompeetalay 15:29, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

  • That information dates to the earliest version of the article: here. I agree, it contrasts with everything else written about Endocott. I think it may be fanon, but I wanted to check before deleting it. The earliest version of the article lists Star Wars Episode I: Racer as an appearance; does that game have an in-game encyclopedia or something? Interestingly, the bit about being a deliveryman on Triffis is apparently slated to be repeated in The Phantom Menace: The Expanded Visual Dictionary (see the spread here). I wonder if this is evidence for the disputed facts here, or evidence of Wookieepedia influencing an official product? ~SavageBOB sig 18:03, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
    • Hi! I had totally forgotten about making this remark, but I have also noticed that this piece turned up in Endocott's expanded background in the EVD. I believe it might indeed have influenced Jason Fry into turning this into canon. I don't have Racer and I've never played it. I do have the Strategy Guide for the Game and I'll check if it says anything about Ebe, but I doubt that it will offer us anything new. Endocott was one of the characters - as is his species - with almost no background at all. --Sompeetalay 23:19, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
      • Yeah, don't bother -- I have both strategy guides and the game itself, and I can't find any of this information in there. I'll pare down the article to what we do actually know about him and delete the fanon. If the new Visual Dictionary maintains that bit, we can re-add it at that time! ~SavageBOB sig 15:19, December 4, 2011 (UTC)
        • Is that EVD page canon? And are those all actual models from the production then too? Interesting the Mandrell model looks vastly different from the CG model. Even the toy from 1999 didn't have legs like that. Also, is there another page to that? And higher res versions of those models? I know that good photos of those models can be damn hard to find. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 02:08, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
          • With the models, we have to be careful, yes. Often, they've been used by canon sources to represent the characters, and those are the ones we can consider in-universe. They were often used in the Databank, the Visual Dictionary, and Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels. The latter two are often the best sources for high-res versions, as well, but they often require the user to scan him- or herself. Some of the Fact Files used the models, too. ~SavageBOB sig 14:25, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
            • Actually, I wasn't asking about the models at all other than I wonder if there's more and expressing surprise at seeing the Mandrell model for the first time, and how vastly different it is from the CG model (Though now I see why some things like Racer and Anakin's Speedway portray him with more humanish feet). I was just wondering if that page made it in the EVD or not, due the written information they present. And if someone had the other pge scanned, seeing this page says Continued at the top. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 22:18, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

Name

What is the source for his middle initial of "E."? If it's from Episode I Racer, I don't believe Fode said "Ebe E. Endocott", but rather that Ebe's first name is pronounced Ee-Bee. What does the TPM game version of his name sound like? --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 16:35, October 19, 2013 (UTC)

  • It might be the Episode I Insider's Guide. I can take a look when I get home on Monday. ~SavageBOB sig 17:17, October 19, 2013 (UTC)
    • Actually, I just went through the history to see when the E. was added. Seems the source of the middle name is the HoloNet News article: here. ~SavageBOB sig 17:21, October 19, 2013 (UTC)
      • I may have to question whether or not Ebe E Endocott was actually the first, or if Episode I Racer just happened to pronounce it as Ee-Bee and they didn't mean Ebe E. Again, gotta dig up the TPM Game pronunciation. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 23:17, October 28, 2013 (UTC)
