Officers
In the back of the book, who are the Imperial officers who appear with all the other costumes? There's Admiral Piett, General Veers, Moff Jerjerrod, Grand Moff Tarkin, and there is also this "Birth of the Empire" officer who I saw in the Visual Dictionary for Episode III. I remember his rank is Lt. Colonel, but I forgot his name. Who was it?- Commander B-101 17:39, 28 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Deluxe Edition
Does anyone know if there are more characters that have been given a name on the extra material that was included with the Deluxe Edition? I know there was a spread in the Jedi section that included Ma'kis'shaalas, Shadday Potkin and J'oopi Shé.-Wild Whiphid 10:11, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- If there are, we should get pics for them. Purpilia 01:04, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Intro by Natalie Portman?
I believe that whoever made that edit was mistaken; in my copy of the book Dressing A Galaxy: The Costumes Of Star Wars, there is absolutely no introduction by Natalie Portman anywhere in the book. This isn't vandalism; this is probably just a sympathetic edit done by some Natalie Portman fan ([Redacted by administration], but I would never add any untrue content to Wookieepedia, even if it involved Carrie Fisher!). Someone (either me or another registered user) should revert this edit so that it doesn't include false information. Supi&Oola 23:32, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Release date
I have tried to dig the release date to a more reliable/official source than Waterstones, but to no avail. I've looked at all the SW.com articles, the official shop page, a bunch of sellers page, but nothing specific and dating from the time of publication came out straight. So I went digging into the JCF topic, and it appears that the release was a bit chaotic, with people getting their copy as early as mid September (for people who pre-order via the FIDM store) to November, but most seems to have been delivered in October. Of note, one user (Lord_Dantes, p8, on September 15) said that "For anyone who ordered from Starwarsshop.com, the shipping date has been pushed back from today to October 10". Though, given the exclusive status of the book (2500 copies), it seems that a global shelf date isn't really something that was considered, and availability was only what mattered, and thus our obsession with exact dates would be misplaced here, but that just an hypothesis. - I've added a few sources to the article, I hope this helps. Year by Year seems to give the release date of September 15, just in time for the exhibition that opened on September 19. —DKS MaXoO (talk) 00:19, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- That's the first thing I checked, but that date seems to have been intended for the FIDM display exposition (though, like you said, it started on the 19, per the FIDM website itself), and not as a direct source for the book release date:
September 15: The intricately detailed costumes of the prequel trilogy go on display at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. In conjunction with this exhibition, Trisha Biggar works with LucasBooks, Palace Press, and Abrams to produce Dressing a Galaxy, a deluxe hardcover costume retrospective (a Limited Edition of the book includes, among other extras, fabric samples from the cloth used in the films).
- Also, going back to the JCF forums, I've also noted that one user (Jedi_Kai, p8, on August 31) had this to say: "FIDM has an exclusive to sell the book in September. Amazon states they'll ship in October. I have no idea why overstocks says it's not released until November. All the publicity on it says October 2005 release date."
