Why "Desert Trooper"?

What is the reason for this article being "Desert trooper" rather than "Sandtrooper"? I personally can't recall ever seeing a Sandtrooper referred to as a Desert trooper; not that the name doesn't make sense, but isn't Sandtrooper more common? Aidje 20:26, 31 Mar 2005 (EST)
