Once you start down on the dark path...

I think when Yoda said the dark side will forever dominate one destiny if he/she starts down on the dark path he meant it will affect his/her destiny in a way he/she cannot change. Like Anakin fell, and even he was returned to the light, his dark side dominated destiny led him dying on the Death Star. Lucas said the Force has a destiny for everybody, and following inner feelings will led them on that path, but if they chose the dark and defy their destiny then life wouldn't be that pleasant as it could have been. So, Yoda was pretty much right. Redemption is possible, but the dark side actions decisions will influence your life and push you into a direction what you cannot undo. Like murder.
