Population, etc.

Is the part about Yoda hiding in the cave a fact or opinion? I am under the assumption that the planet was so strong with the force that it would mask/drown out his presence. -N8

  • Fact, from The Thrawn Trilogy. The "Dark Side Cave" acted as a sort of negative pole that helped mask Yoda's Light Side positive pole. Add in an extremely healthy ecosystem brimming with the Force, and you had a nice hiding spot. However, staying near the cave was sufficient - he wasn't actually hiding inside it, to my knowledge, anyway. JSarek 05:41, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
      • If anyone's curious why I put Dagobah as having previously having had a human population: In Galaxy of Fear, a group of humans did crash on Dagobah and live there, and their children became cannibals and were still living on the planet after th Battle of Yavin. Also, there's the New Republic base later on, on Mt. Yoda, in the book "Mission from Mt. Yoda."
        • Dagobah's population is 0. Yoda died. The New Republic presence is gone by the time Luke and Callista visit the planet.
          • I wouldnt be surprised if there were one or two people living there from time to time.
  • I think we all know who they meant. -- SFH 03:23, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)

---Does anyone know where Dagobah was filmed in episodes 5 and 6? --Penguichaun 21:59, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Familiar

Does anybody know what's so familiar to Luke about Dagobah. He mention's the planet is familiar in ESB but thats it. Jasca Ducato Sith Council (Sith campaign) 10:34, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

"It's like...something out of a dream...I don't know, maybe I'm just going crazy..."

Force visions. They seem to run in the family. Any other connection is, basically, fanwank. He's seen it in a dream, just as he says - \\Captain Kwenn// Ahoy! 14:56, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Wasn't there a rumor going around that Dagobah was a ruined Naboo in the future, and that's what was so familiar with it?

Anyway, I think why it was so familiar is probably because it was bubbling with the living force. --Sir-Malbeth 16:04, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes, but common sense says this is not what Lucas thought when writing those lines. If it was something so irrelevant to action or background, such as unmentioned dreams, a writer simply wouldn't mention it. I am sure he intended to refer to some prequel trilogy connection which eventually wasn't written into the films. I came to this article to see an explanation on this, there is none, and I restore the BtS reference (without a speculation, other than yours) since I am sure other fans are puzzled and want to see some thoughts of it as well. Dark Side source

I updated (corrected, I think) the page to refer to the Bpfasshi Dark Jedi who was slain on Dagobah long before Yoda showed up. (The original article implied that Yoda actually killed him.) Any comments? GrandMoffPorkins 06:03, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

  • I think you're wrong in this. The Thrawn Trilogy establishes that a dark Jedi from Bpfassh was killed on Dagobah, creating the dark cave that shielded Yoda during his exile. However, "Vision of the Future" expands on this story, with the smuggler Jorj Cardass saying that he was captured by the Dark Jedi, came to Dagobah with him, and watched Yoda kill the unnamed Jedi in a battle that lasted several days. Since Timothy Zahn wrote this book, too, I think it's pretty clear that he has the same Jedi in mind. The dating may be murky, but everything else lines up correctly. Yoda and Minch

From the "Yoda's Exile"-Section: "He made his dwelling near the cave where he had slain the Bpfasshi Dark Jedi". By surfing within wookieepedia, I found out that it wasn't him who killed the Dark Jedi, but Minch!--TeakHoken91.7.18.107 12:22, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Uncharted

SO, the articel says Dagobah is a "lost" planet. Uncharted, deleted or whatever. And thus Yoda used it as his hidingplace. But Luke has no problem to find it. Does this mean that it has been charted again? Or are we supposed to think that the force guide him there? --Draii 22:38, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Obi-Wan tells Luke to go to Dagobah. I'm sure he wouldn't have minded giving Luke some pointers as to where it was. Heck, Obi-Wan could have asked Yoda if he himself didn't know. For that matter, "guided by the Force" would also be a perfectly reasonable explanation, given that two powerful Force users wanted him to be there. 82.95.254.249 11:22, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
I would have to agree with the force-guided idea. Remember from ESB, Luke says to R2D2 something along the lines of 'I'd like to keep it on manual for a while'. In my mind, this implies that he can't just plug in the coordinates. What other reason would he have for making that statement? Just a way to show that he likes flying ships?--65.31.193.126 03:31, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
  • If it is so uncharted, why are their several foods, drinks, etc... named after it even before Luke went to the planet? Dark Ridley 16:50, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
  • That is because it was charted at one time in the Jedi Archives. It was erased by Darth Tyranus the same time that he erased Kamino.--Admrial Thrawn 06:54, December 31, 2009 (UTC)
  • If it was uncharted after the clone wars how did luke know of it? He specifically tells artoo that the planet is not on any charts but he knows where it is... darth htawhsa 12:28, December 31, 2009 (UTC)
  • I would have to speculate that he knew about it through the force guide idea stated above. --Admrial Thrawn 07:08, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

Immigrated Species

SHouldn't we include Yoda's Species here?--TheDoctor42 21:38, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't think so because it wasn't his species that immigrated here, just Yoda himself. --Admrial Thrawn 06:55, December 31, 2009 (UTC)

Has anybody named "Yoda's species" yet? Should we just write to George Lucas and tell him to do so? The thing is everyone in the species seems to be old like Vandar and Yaddle. --darth htawhsa 14:54, January 06, 2010 (UTC)

  • Lucas specifically decided not to give name to Yoda's species. MauserComlink 10:34, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

vision cave

If Dagobah was so remote and unknown that it could have been removed from the archives without notice, and then chosen for it's seclusion as a hideout from the Empire by arguably the most powerful Jedi alive at the time, then how did both Rahm Kota and Galen Marek know about the cave 5 years before Luke ends up there? I haven't read the novel, does it explain it there? I would think that if there was a known cave on Dagobah that triggered visions in Jedi, it should deserve a section, or even an article. Any insight or opinion on this?

  • There is a whole article on it, entitled Dark Side Cave. It is not linked from this article though, so I will add a link or two to quell any more possible confusion. --DarthZaiger 15:00, February 9, 2011 (UTC)

Unknown?

Was Dagobah known and used by the Separatists, because it was one of the planets that Dooku erased from the Jedi Archives, and it's located in Separatist space?--98.148.127.135 17:48, October 6, 2012 (UTC)
