Starfleet officer

In ANH, Motti says, "Dangerous to your Starfleet, [General Tagge]; not to this battle station." Does this mean Tagge was a Starfleet officer? --SparqMan 09:17, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)

    • Actually, in the movie, he does not say General Tagge, simply "Dangerous to your starfleet, Commander"---

out of universe, the apparent explanation is that Motti and Tagges lines were switched, and the General should have said this to the Admiral, which makes a lot more sense. Nonetheless, sources continue to maintain Tagge is an Army General. (For what its worth, in the ANH credits, Motti and Tagge are both called Generals IIRC, and Tagge is spelled Taggi).

I have always wondered how to fix this problem. I have frankly no idea ;) Wish I did. This problem has old roots going all the way back to WEG. After all, its Motti's Starfleet acc to them, he is the Admiral.JustinGann 10:51, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • I have a solution. Maybe Tagge had control of a task-force, where he would control a large ground-force, but also control of the fleet that would ferry it around the universe. That's my take on it. Thefourdotelipsis 04:11, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Motti might also have been using "your" in a general sense, the same way someone might say "Imperial fighters aren't any good. For instance, take your standard TIE fighter - it'll break if you sneeze on it." That person doesn't mean you actually own a TIE fighter, but is using "your" to refer to them more generally. English used to do this a lot more often - Hamlet's line "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio / Than are dreamt of in your philosophy" isn't referring to Horatio's philosophy, but to the discipline of philosophy in general. jSarek 07:38, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
      • That theory would work if that had been the emphasis that LeParmentier had put on the line. But he says "your starfleet", not "your starfleet". So the inflection suggests Tagge's "fleet", not fleets in general. .... 08:22, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
        • Here's a possibility: Motti isn't referring to the Imperial Navy - he's referring to the private navy of the House of Tagge - hence him saying "your starfleet" to Tagge, even though Tagge's in the army. The Admiral is implying that the Tagges are insignificant next to the Imperial war machine, even without the Death Star. QuentinGeorge 07:10, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
          • I take this line as a personal quip at Tagge's privileged status by Motti. Tagge's family company is known to furnish starships (Modular Taskforce Cruiser and others) for the Imperial Navy, so when Motti says "your starfleet," I believe he is making an overgeneralization as an effort to insult Tagge, insinuating either that TaggeCo ships are of inferior quality or that his opinion is not worthy as he only obtained his rank through status. - Brynn Alastayr 00:44, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Is that some kind of a record? .... 12:28, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Death Retconned?

In Darth Vader #1, the Emperor directly states Tagge survived the battle of Yavin, having left the Death Star before the battle, and is in fact made head of the Imperial Navy

  • Hi there. This page is mainly for information about Cassio Tagge from Star Wars Legends, previously known as the Expanded Universe, which is now non-canon. Darth Vader #1 does not apply to this page, as the comic is part of the new official canon. Official canon information about the character can be found at Cassio Tagge, which reflects that he did not die on the Death Star. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:54, February 11, 2015 (UTC)
