Decisive?

Correct me if I"m wrong, but isn't a decisive victory supposed to be one that marks the end of the larger conflict at hand? By that logic, the Battle of Yavin is not a decisive victory, as the fighting continued for 5 years after Yavin. Jakku was the decisive victory of the Civil War. Not Yavin.

  • Not really. "Decisive" in this context means "definite" or "unambiguous." It doesn't literally mean that the war was actually decided. IFYLOFD (Talk) 03:56, June 21, 2016 (UTC)

Makes sense, but I think, by that logic, Endor should be considered a decisive victory too. I would argue it was an even greater victory than Yavin. --NotCrazyCarson (talk) 03:52, July 8, 2016 (UTC)

All the creatures great and small

did the stuff Bobbajo described in that story actually happen? It wasn't completely clear.--D9328 (talk) 17:15, August 15, 2016 (UTC)d9328

42 TIE Fighters?

Just wondering how A New Hope serves as a source for the claim that there were 42 TIE Fighters at the Battle of Yavin? Just watched the scene a couple times and while there's a figure for the Rebel fighters, none is made for Imperial. If the number is from an alternate source like the novelization, then the source needs to be changed. 68.227.97.169 19:25, March 10, 2017 (UTC)

  • I was just looking at that too. Even if you presume every Tie Fighter seen in the movie is a different one, rather than just the 6 shown to have launched (plus the 2 with Vader later), you still only end up with 11 Tie Fighters. The number of weapon emplacements for the Death Star is pretty misleading too, while the Death Star does have thousands of weapon emplacements, few were actually involved in the battle given how sparse they actually are over the Death Star's surface. One of the characters estimates just 20 guns firing at them during the trench approach. 61.68.124.185 05:21, March 20, 2017 (UTC)
    • I'm not sure about the number of turrets, but the claim of 42 TIEs was recently added in by an anonymous editor, so I reverted that number back to 8. - Cwedin(talk) 05:30, March 20, 2017 (UTC)

TIe interceptors

I'm aware of what AMG has said about TIE interceptors being at the battle, but this conflicts with already established lore. We of course know from the film that 6 ties were launched on orders from Vader, and then 2 pilots accompany him, making 8. But the thing is, we have at least 2 sources, Star Wars: On the Front Lines and Star Wars: Battles that Changed the Galaxy, which say that Tarkin refused to send out reinforcements after this. So then why would there be TIE interceptors in the battle? I think the AMG sceneraio pack should not be treated as canon Lewisr (talk) 15:33, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
