Do we know if the Battle of Batonn takes place after the Mission to Malachor? Jkirk8907 (talk) 01:50, September 25, 2016 (UTC)
Admiral?
Although it's the most likely scenario, we have absolutely no proof that Thrawn was promoted from admiral (be it fleet admiral, vice admiral, rear admiral or just plain admiral) to grand admiral. Since he was promoted by the Emperor himself, he could have skipped one or more ranks for all we know. I think it's more prudent to call him an "officer", or just "Thrawn" prior to the Battle of Batonn. Anything else is speculative. (Of course, I suspect the novel will shed some light on this.) --LelalMekha (talk) 17:33, September 25, 2016 (UTC)
- The emphasis on Konstantine's line was "Grand Admiral." His surprise was at the "Grand" part of the title, not the fact that he was an admiral. Duck test. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 17:43, September 25, 2016 (UTC)
- Mh, fair enough. I suppose you're right. Anyway, if it turns out not to be the case, we'll end up knowing soon enough. --LelalMekha (talk) 17:46, September 25, 2016 (UTC)
Scrim Island
Should we create a separate article for the Battle of Scrim Island? The Thrawn novel treats the events on Scrim Island as separate from the events that occur at Paeragosto City on Batonn's main continent. The novel makes it clear that the Battle of Scrim Island ended as a victory for Thrawn after he uses his ships to generate an artificial tsunami that overwhelms the island's ion and turbolaser cannons, and deflector shields. The insurgents surrender and release their hostages. On page 361, Thrawn says that "this battle [Scrim Island] is over. But the war for Batonn has not yet been won."
The events at Paeragosto City occur later when the insurgents take control of a mine and establish their base there. Thrawn tries to negotiate with Nightswan but his efforts to end the siege are complicate when Arihnda Pryce kills an Imperial agent and blows up the mine in order to cover up her crime. This explosion kills all the insurgents and many civilians. We could have the Battle of Batonn cover the events at Paeragosto City. Should we rename the article? Andykatib 11:33, July 19, 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not opposed to a separate page being created or I think both events could be covered in this page and we just change it to 'War on Batonn' --Lewisr (talk) 11:48, July 19, 2017 (UTC)
- Both ideas sound good. I will be going of to bed soon since it's midnight in New Zealand. Perhaps, I'll attend to it later or let another Wookieepedian decide the best course of action. Andykatib 12:04, July 19, 2017 (UTC)
- I'm happy with either too. I think having a separate article is good as well as Zahn does go into a fair amount of detail into each element of the war. This would take up a substantial amount of an article over time. I can try to get to it later also, will see how much time I have. Otherwise feel free to do so yourself :). --Spongebob456 talk 15:28, July 19, 2017 (UTC)
- I think I will be able to cover the Battle of Scrim Island inside the Battle of Batonn article. I could pattern this article's layout after the Battle of Ryloth covers the space battle, Landing at Nabat, and the Battle of Lessu, which are individually covered in The Clone Wars episodes "Storm Over Ryloth", "Innocents of Ryloth", and "Liberty on Ryloth". The Batonn insurgency would then be a condensed conflict article which also discusses the Imperial counter-insurgency operations on Denash and Sammun. Andykatib 12:27, July 26, 2017 (UTC)
