Where does it say the BARCs were rendered obsolete by the 74-Z's? From the cut-scenes in AOTC and the various EU sources, the 74-Z's are used before the BARC's were even produced. The BARC is a larger, more heavily armed speederbike, possibly serving other functions, so I can´t see why it is phased out by the other design, unless it is stated in an official source.
