Question
Wait question in the clone wars section it talks about their creation from the workshop, shouldn't that go before the Clone Wars section since they saw action prior to the clone wars, as seen in episode 1? —Unsigned comment by 68.192.83.252 (talk • contribs)
OOMs and B1s
There seems to be several contradictory claims regarding these droid models. The OOM-series page describes them as predecessors to the B1, yet this article mentions the B1 having fought at Naboo, and many articles seem to use the designations interchangeably. Is there a big enough distinction between these two droids? RattsT (talk) 04:44, January 20, 2020 (UTC)
- Per Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition, the OOM-series are the predecessors. B1s were deployed in the Invasion of Naboo as they had been created at that point. The confusing droid maybe OOM-9, per Ultimate Star Wars, he is a B1 despite being an OOM command battle droid. Therefore, based on this, B1s can be upgraded into OOM command units.--Editoronthewiki (talk) 21:36, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
- Hi old me! OOMs are just B1s. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary confirms OOMs are the "OOM mark" of the B1-series Editoronthewiki (talk) 21:40, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
Reprogrammed B1 Battledroids were not illegal during the Empire
I see someone changed an edit I made about not all B1s being illegal.
There is no evidence of reprogrammed B1s being outlawed by the Empire. It doesn't make sense.
There is evidence of the Republic using reprogrammed B1s, as well as the Empire using BX Comando Droids.
We've seen stormtroopers shooting CIS clankers in an episode of Rebels. You can also see that the Stormtroopers actually aproach the droids to check if they are still serving the CIS, or are reprogrammed. They don't shoot on sight. One of them states "Yeah, Clone Wars battledroid", only after the B1 has started talking about his commander. Only then the stormtroopers says "Alright, you know the drill", before the soldiers start shooting.
Adding to the topic, in the yet not released to this date, Episode 4 of Clone Wars Season 7, "Unfinished Business", Mace Windu tells some Battledroids: "(...) I'm giving you an opportunity to peacefully lay down your weapons so that you may be reprogrammed to serve a better purpose than spreading the mindless violence and chaos which you have inflicted upon the galaxy". Showing that the republic actively reprogrammed battledroids. But the republic is never seen using battledroids in combat. This means that they were probably reused for other tasks, also probably by civilians and not only military forces. Therefore it doesn't make sense that the empire would outlawed reprogrammed B1s, and they are almost harmless.—Unsigned comment by Spyrotelfan (talk • contribs)
- The bit that says B1s were outlawed by the Empire provides a source, Star Wars Rebels: Head to Head, while your information is speculation, which has no place on Wookieepedia. I recommend you stop adding it. Fan26 (Talk) 00:06, March 11, 2020 (UTC)
- I can't check if that source is actually true. Someone should check if it is. —Unsigned comment by Spyrotelfan (talk • contribs)
