Blade Squadron stuff

All that stuff about Adon Fox and Gina Moonsong... is that considered canon? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not sure if the Star Wars Insider still counts as a canon source. Promus Kaa(Comm Chatter) Redstarbird 07:53, December 29, 2014 (UTC)

  • All Insider stories beginning with Blade Squadron are canon. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 07:57, December 29, 2014 (UTC)

Major overhaul of the History Section

Wanted to get people's thoughts on overhauling the History section. It currently reads as a history of Blade Squadron instead of focusing on the B-wing. Anyone agree/disagree? --Random00021 (talk) 17:46, August 29, 2015 (UTC)

  • I don't know if a "major" overhaul is needed, but it may not be a bad idea to cut out some of the unnecessary details from "Blade Squadron" that are currently present in the article. Cevan (talk) 17:53, August 29, 2015 (UTC)

Ackbar as the canon designer?

The canon page says "The B-wing starfighter was personally designed by Admiral Ackbar." Where did this information come from? I know he designed it in Legends but where in canon is he stated to have designed it?"

--Roguestar (talk) 01:14, October 8, 2015 (UTC)

  • Especially important now, as apparently Quarrie is the designer, of the prototype at least. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 07:14, November 12, 2015 (UTC)
    • Agreed. Currently, Ultimate Star Wars is cited as the source for this claim. Can someone confirm/deny the appearance of this information in the reference book? Obi-wan Baloney (talk) 15:41, November 12, 2015 (UTC)
      • I checked pages 103, 104, 130, 148, 307 and 309—all of the pages the index listed "Ackbar" and "B-wing" under. Nothing linking them. The new canon dodged the discontinuity bullet. The misinformation showed up last month in an edit by, unsurprisingly, a blocked user. Ackbar's addition to the infobox showed up in a later edit. I've corrected the article, and left the "(Prototype)" qualifier in the infobox since we don't know for certain who designed the final fighter. Behind the Scenes Section?

Perhaps we should start a 'Behind the Scenes' section for this new canon page of the B-Wing. It would go a long way to explaining some of the things in the new Star Wars: Rebels episode featuring a prototype B-Wing. For example the second cockpit is a reference to what I think is a Joe Johnson concept art for the B-Wing early in Return of the Jedi's production. Maphisto86 17:12, November 15, 2015 (UTC)

Rename

After watching this week's Rebel Recon interview with Pablo Hidalgo, I think it's clearly intended Quarrie named it the Blade-wing and so B-wing has always stood for Blade-wing. Thoughts? --Alientraveller (talk) 12:17, January 21, 2016 (UTC)

  • In Legends was it ever referred to as "Blade Wing", or was it at least given a proper name (as in, did the B ever stand for anything?). Usually we use proper named here, so if Hidalgo called it a "Blade Wing", I would say rename it. Darth Ravigious (talk) 12:27, January 21, 2016 (UTC)
  • I think it is premature to make the leap at that this point. I definitely agree that the prototype Prototype_B6 from Quarrie was named "Blade Wing" per the Rebels episode and the Star Wars Databank entry. However, no sources (Star Wars Databank, Star Wars in 100 Scenes, Ultimate Star Wars) link the name "Blade Wing" with the final A/SF-01 B-wing starfighter. I think for now things should stay the same given the lack of sources linking the name "Blade Wing" with the final model (as opposed to the prototype). I think that the sentence in the behind the scenes section should also be watered down from "canonized by the Star Wars Rebels production team" to something like "has also been used by the Star Wars Rebels production team" That isn't to say that this may change in the future, especially given Hidalgo's role, but for now I think the link is too weak.Random00021 (talk) 16:16, January 21, 2016 (UTC)

Composite Laser on production-model B-Wing?

It seems that as of the Skeleton Crew finale, the production-model B-wing starfighter does in fact equip some version of the original Prototype's composite laser cannon - two New Republic B-Wings are seen firing this weapon on the pirate flagship near the end of the episode: https://imgur.com/a/wz9xvcO

I've not read much of the new canon stuff, so I don't know if it's come up in other media, and I saw no mention of it in the article, so I thought I'd bring it up. Should we add that into the article? I don't really want to mess with it without discussing it first. DrachenRitter42 (talk) 02:58, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

  • It was only on the prototype seen in Rebels before (see Prototype B6), but the page can note that it was equipped on these ones in the episode Lewisr (talk) 19:50, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
