| Sweebotta reacts to Leia Organa running through their legs[3] |
Sweebotta was an alien who was also known as Sweetie due to their friendly face. In 9 BBY, Sweebotta was at a street market on the planet Daiyu when Princess Leia Organa ran through the alien's four tall legs while fleeing from the fugitive Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sweebotta was then rounded up by Imperial stormtroopers and inspected by the Fourth Sister, an Inquisitor hunting Kenobi.
Biography
Sweebotta was a four-legged alien with such a friendly face that those around them called them Sweetie. They roamed the streets of[2] Daiyu City[4] on the planet Daiyu during the reign of the Galactic Empire,[3] moving from one place to another to get by.[2] In 9 BBY,[5] the alien was going about their day[2] while stood in one of Daiyu's street markets when the human child Princess Leia Organa ran through Sweebotta's legs while fleeing from the fugitive Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, causing them to grunt in surprise. The alien then watched as two bounty hunters tried to apprehend Organa before Kenobi downed them both.[3]
Sweebotta was rounded up by stormtroopers for inspection by the Fourth Sister.
Imperial stormtroopers then rounded up[6] Sweebotta and several other bystanders and had them stand in line at the edge of the market. The alien kept their head down as the line was then inspected by the Imperial Inquisitor known as the Fourth Sister, who was hunting for Kenobi.[3]
Personality and traits
Sweebotta resembled a polar bear and had tall legs,[6] tan fur, tan skin, and black eyes.[2]
Equipment
Sweebotta wore a brown scarf.[2]
Behind the scenes
- "So, basically, what's going to happen is, she's just going to run through your legs. So, just as the person runs through your legs, it's just like a sense of the creature looking down and then going, 'Whoa.'"
- ―Deborah Chow gives directions to the performer playing Sweebotta
The performer inside the Sweebotta costume
Sweebotta appeared in the second episode of the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi television series,[3] which aired on May 26, 2022.[8] Director Deborah Chow gave directions to the performer portraying Sweebotta in the show's creature workshop, telling them to look down at Organa and react as though saying "Whoa." While in the workshop, the Sweebotta costume had a gold-trimmed green sheet over its back rather than the scarf.[7] The character was not identified in the series[3] but received a name on a card in the 2023 Topps Disney Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi set released by The Topps Company, Inc. in 2023.[2]
