A survey scope[2] was a type of viewing device that consisted of a black cuboid with a viewer on one side and a lens on the other. This sat atop a black tripod that made the device roughly waist height on an adult human.[1] The Imperial engineer Colonel Soden Petigar[3] had a survey scope set up on the Aldhani dam on the planet Aldhani[1] in 5 BBY[4] and used it to view the descent of a meteor[2] that raced overhead.[1]
