- "If the Ailon Nova Guard should somehow succeed in their objective (which did in fact occur during the Sundering of Slession), these assets can be preserved for their next mission."
- ―General Rom Mohc, Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide
The Sundering of Slession was a conflict[2] that shared its name with the Inner Rim's Slession system[4] and was fought at some point between 19 BBY and 0 BBY.[1] During the conflict, the Humanocentric Galactic Empire deployed the Ailon Nova Guard, the military force of the Ailon species, into what appeared to be a certain rout.[2]
The Imperial commanders did not expect the Ailon Nova Guard to attain its objective,[3] with the Ailon forces usually being utilized to provide tactical insight into their enemy's composition and tactics through the former's decimation. However, the Nova Guard had at some point began adopting scouting and ambush tactics—as opposed to open assaults on entrenched opponents—and achieved an unlikely victory during the Sundering of Slession.[2] Imperial General Rom Mohc subsequently mentioned the Sundering of Slession in the Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide, an Imperial Military manual published[3] by 0 BBY.[1]
Behind the scenes
- "Among the triumphs mentioned here are the "toppling of King Satyr Azzlectico" and the "Sundering of Slession." Both are newly-created and don't really refer to anything in particular."
- ―Daniel Wallace
The Sundering of Slession was introduced in a section of the 2009 Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Roleplaying Game sourcebook Galaxy at War[2] authored by Daniel Wallace.[5]
