The Sullustan Orbital Shipyards were shipyards orbiting the planet Sullust. Operated by the SoroSuub Corporation, these shipyards were dedicated to the construction of capital ships.
Description
The Sullustan Orbital Shipyards were shipyards that orbited the Sullustan homeworld of Sullust, in the Outer Rim Territories. The shipyards were operated by Sullustans working for the megacorporation SoroSuub. Although the SoroSuub Corporation was an important starship manufacturer, the Sullust orbital yards were relatively small, particularly when compared to the nearby Sluis Van Shipyards. In fact, the majority of the vessels produced by SoroSuub were small freighters and starfighters that were manufactured by smaller shipyards on the surface, such as the Sarrano Yard. The Sullustan Orbital Shipyards were only dedicated to the construction of large capital ships.[1]
History
During the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire commanded the SoroSuub Corporation to assign most of the Sullustan Orbital Shipyards to the repairing and maintaining of Imperial vessels. The remaining sections of the yards were used by SoroSuub to produce capital ships for the Sullustan anti-pirate fleet, the Sullustan Home Guard. The ships constructed in the orbital shipyards for the Home Guard included Brayl-class bulk freighters, Quasar Fire-class bulk cruisers, Hornet-class carriers, Liberator-class cruisers and Bulwark-class battlecruisers.[1]
During the Galactic Civil War, SoroSuub was sympathetic to the Rebel Alliance. Sometime after the Battle of Yavin, the company allowed Rebel operatives to infiltrate the Sullustan Orbital Shipyards to "steal" the Bulwark-class battlecruiser Arrow of Sullust.[1]
