- "Let Emperor Valorum run things as he likes. He promised me the stellar cruises would be restored. The universities, the cultural ambassadorships—"
"Emperor Palpatine, of course." - ―Senator DuQuosenne and her protocol droid
Stellar cruises were a form of entertainment that beings could participate in. At some point, Senator Nadrian DuQuosenne enjoyed the cruises, though she eventually lost access to them. Following this, a politician claimed they would restore DuQuosenne's stellar cruises. However, over time, she could not remember whether Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum or Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, the latter of whom later became Emperor upon the Galactic Republic's reorganization into the Galactic Empire, had promised her action on the issue.[1]
Around 19 BBY,[2] Senator Mon Mothma visited DuQuosenne to rally support for her Imperial Rebirth Act bill, which would limit Palpatine's power. However, DuQuosenne simply mused that she did not care if the Emperor—whom she referred to by the name of Valorum—did as he liked, noting that he had promised her the return of stellar cruises and cultural ambassadorships. DuQuosenne's protocol droid corrected her, reminding her that Emperor Palpatine was in charge.[1]
Behind the scenes
Stellar cruises were mentioned in the 2025 novel Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear, written by Alexander Freed as the first installment of the Star Wars: Reign of the Empire trilogy.[1]

Star Wars: Edge of the Abyss on Penguin Books' official United Kingdom website (backup link) establishes the events of Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear take place thirteen years before the events of Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss.
Rebecca Roanhorse (@rebeccaroanhorse) on Instagram (post): "Title and updated release date of my upcoming STAR WARS novel announced at SDCC. THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS takes place a year before Andor S1." (backup link) states that Edge of the Abyss takes place a year before the events of Andor Season 1, which are set in 5 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, the events of Edge of the Abyss must be set in 6 BBY, and the events of The Mask of Fear in 19 BBY.
