The Star Wars was a filmstrip composed from colored panels of the Contemporary Motivators: Star Wars comic book, with audio provided by two cassette tapes. The panels were used without the speech bubbles and were sometimes cropped.[2][1]
Like the rest of the Contemporary Motivators series, the filmstrip was released as part of a larger kit intended as a reading aid in an educational setting, featuring the comic book, worksheets and teachers' guides.[2] StarWars.com released a video of the filmstrip, first giving it the name Old School Star Wars Filmstrip.[4] The video is no longer on the website, but can be found in various places on the internet.[1]
The audio narration differed from the narration of the comic. In the filmstrip, the sound effect of an ignited lightsaber is used to represent the sound of a blaster shot.[1]
