Details
Original event
The film footage in the show was shown on a state-of-the-art 100 foot screen, accompanied by a selection of John Williams' original scores from the films. Music was performed by the 86-piece Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and choir. The show also featured live narration by Anthony Daniels.[1]
The event premiered at The O2 arena in London, U.K. on April 10, 2009, prior to a planned world tour. The live multi-media performance included an exhibition of memorabilia from all six films, provided by the Lucasfilm Archives, including original models, props, costumes and production artwork. The event was produced by Another Planet Touring, in association with Lucasfilm.[source?] According to Star Wars Insider, the event was re-named Star Wars: In Concert for its tour in the US.[2]
2024 event
An updated form of A Musical Journey was held in November 2024. Again hosted by Daniels, the show went for two hours and included music from the sequel trilogy, in addition to that of the original and prequel trilogies, so as to tell the entire Skywalker Saga through Williams' music.[2]
