- "The Star Core, that's what exploded, it was only in the development stage and good thing, too, or this moon would be about half the size it is currently. Fortunately, the reaction was limited to a radius slightly smaller than the city. It's supposed to be a new type of power supply that can run practically an entire planet.... or even worse, another Death Star!"
- ―A Rebel officer, to Stoer Kilos
The Star Core was a small object small enough to fit into a backpack yet powerful enough to power a planet, or even a new Death Star.
History
The Galactic Empire began researching this technology in the city of Restuss on Rori. During its developmental stages, the Rebellion heard of this object and began amassing troops outside of the city. The Empire quickly evacuated the city of Restuss and prepared for battle. Largely because of the Star Core's importance to the Empire, Emperor Palpatine had arranged for additional elite forces to arrive at Rori via hyperspace jump if the circumstances required it. During the climax of the Battle of Restuss, something went terribly wrong with the Star Core. In its developmental stage, it exploded, destroying the once great city of Restuss.
