The besiioth was a red-eyed, quadruped creature from Tedel. The most common subspecies was the plains besiioth. Various subspecies were hybridized to create the stalker besiioth breed.
Biology and appearance
Besiioth were four-legged creatures with large red eyes. They were strong due to the high gravity of their homeworld. They were armed with claws and fangs for hunting. Their eyesight was geared towards the lower end of the spectrum and they hunted by looking for heat sources. Their sense of smell was weak.[1]
The species had seven distinct subspecies, each with different sizes and colorations. Though they could interbred, this rarely happened in the wild. The most common subspecies was the plains besiioth, which was light brown to light green in color. It could be adapted to standard gravity worlds. The plains besiioth had live litters of up to four cubs.[1]
Stalker besiioths were created by geneticists with an enhanced sense of smell and altered musculature which made the creature more suitable for forests and mountains.[1]
Behavior
They normally dwelled on the plains. They were feral aggressive creatures that viewed everything as prey. While not trainable, they could be controlled via neural inhibitors.[1]
History
Besiioth were often used as guard beasts. Private geneticists created several specialized subspecies, including the stalker besiioth.[1]
