The Spinnaker Navy was an aquatic navy that guarded the coastal city Spinnaker on the planet Naboo.[1] The Navy was part of the Naboo Royal Navy, a division of the Royal Naboo Security Forces that served the Royal House of Naboo. The boats in the Navy included five Light Scouts, four Destroyers, and two Naboo Cruisers. In 32 BBY, Spinnaker was attacked by the Trade Federation during their invasion of the planet.[2] As the Trade Federation Droid Army cleared out the city, Droid Starfighters destroyed the Spinnaker Navy's vessels while staying out of range of the city's anti-air defenses.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Spinnaker Navy was first mentioned in Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Prima's Official Strategy Guide by Steven L. Kent, published on on November 7, 2001,[3] before appearing in the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds,[2] when it released later that year on November 11.[4] The Navy appears in the second level of the Trade Federation campaign, "Spinnaker's Spoils," although it is only identified within the strategy guide.[1]
In the game, the Navy's boats are included as part of the Naboo Royal Navy's forces.[2] Destroying the Navy is not essential for the player to complete the level, but the strategy guide recommends it. The strategy guide also states that the Navy has anti-air destroyers that the player should eliminate with their Multi-Troop Transports;[1] however, the Navy's anti-air destroyers did not appear in Galactic Battlegrounds.[2]
