The spine rat was a creature known to the Empire of the Hand[1] coalition.[2] In 19 ABY,[3] during a battle between the Empire of the Hand and the Cavrilhu Pirates on the Unknown Regions planet[1] Rhigar,[4] the cadets of the Syndic Mitth'raw'nuruodo training academy hid in a forest within the academy as part of a sneak attack on the invading pirates. While waiting for the invaders, the Human cadet Jagged Fel compared the students of the Empire of the Hand academy's hiding to that of the spine rat's in a burrow.[1]
Behind the scenes
The spine rats were mentioned in the 2001 short story Red Sky, Blue Flame, which was written by Elaine Cunningham and published within the seventh issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine.[1]
