"There's six or eight of them, I think -- local moisture farmers led by a big thug named Sont Toipo. If you stop Toipo, the rest will probably run off."
Kitster Banai, to a spacer[1]

Sont Toipo was a male Aqualish vigilante leader who worked on Drik Bandrik's payroll on Tatooine during the Galactic Civil War.

Biography

"I don't care whether Kitster's guilty. Drik says he's a troublemaker, and Drik knows best."
―Sont Toipo, to a spacer[1]

In 1 ABY,[2] Drik Bandrik, a slaver who became upset at Kitster Banai for his persistent attempts to improve the lives of slaves, framed him in the murder of a moisture farmer named Krin Vel. Sont Toipo was then tasked with organizing an angry mob of farmers to find and kill Kitster. Fortunately for Kitster, a spacer traveling through Mos Espa agreed to help him, and hunt down Sont Toipo. Kitster surmised that the mob would consist of six or eight local moisture farmers, but he pleaded with the spacer to only kill Sont Toipo. Kitster hoped that the rest of the mob would run off after he was killed.[1]

The traveler agreed, and set out to successfully kill Toipo, while making an effort to spare the lives of the farmers. It later turned out that Krin Vel was not murdered at all, but was rather paid by Drik Bandrik to leave Mos Espa long enough for a lynch mob to be formed.[1]

Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
