A sonic dampener[1] or sound dampener[2] was used to protect an individual's hearing from loud noises.[1] Sonic dampeners were integral parts of a sonic dampening helmet, protecting the wearer while they used sonic weapons such as the Sd-77 sonic pistol or Sg-82 sonic rifle. The MobileMortar-3's barrel was fitted with dampeners to muffle the noise of the firing blast.[2] Sonic dampeners also took the form of devices that could be placed into an individual's ear to deaden the sound around them. The Sullustan Den Dhur wore sonic dampeners, along with polarized droptacs, to protect his sensitive hearing.[1]
