- "The Jedi may have stolen it, […] But it was originally from the Song of Salaban. The point is that each person's decisions affect everyone around him. Friends, family, business associates—even total strangers. You ask what happened to Sorro? That's what happened. He made bad decisions—many of them. In the process, he lost everything he held of value."
- ―Nuso Esva, posing as Lord Odo
The Song of Salaban was an Arkanian legend, which told the story of the Arkanian Salaban who was forced to go on a quest after a tragic event in his life. At some point, the religious Jedi Order adopted the phrase "The choices of one shape the futures of all" from the legend.[1] In 0 ABY,[2] the alien warlord Nuso Esva—posing as a member of the Galactic Empire's Imperial Court, Lord Odo—quoted the Song of Salaban to the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Chimaera's first officer, Commander Gilad Pellaeon when sharing a lie of what happened to his pilot, the Human Sorro: that he had lost his family by making the wrong choices.[1]
Odo gave his clothing to his servant shortly after, and Pellaeon killed him after being ordered to murder his alien master by Imperial Senior Captain Thrawn. Before the pilot died, the commander told Sorro that he had redeemed his family, which was what Salaban tried to achieve.[1]
