Smelly was a tauntaun owned by clone trooper 1139. 1139 found the tauntaun on the planet Hoth and brought it aboard a Neimoidian shuttle that 1139's squad had stolen from Viceroy Nute Gunray.[1] After leaving Hoth, the squad landed their stolen shuttle on the Forest Moon of Endor and 1139 took Smelly for a walk. Hoping they were friends, 1139 released Smelly from his chains, but Smelly ran off into the forest. 1139 chased after Smelly, but eventually got captured by Ewoks.[2] Smelly then returned to free 1139 and together they helped the squad fend of Nute Gunray's attack. Afterword, the squad commander made Smelly a member of the squad.[3]
