- "You know I once played cards with Skungy Gungus themself, before they hit it big of course."
- ―Ju'syl to fellow gamblers while playing Kessel Sabacc
Skungy Gungus was a musician and member of the band Skungy Gungus and the Refractors[1] By 3 ABY,[2] the Refractors had performed the songs "If These Sands Could Speak" and "Look Up!" which could be selected from the jukebox at the Bestine Cantina on the desert planet Tatooine and from the jukebox at the cantina in Renpalli Station in orbit over the moon Toshara respectively.[1] In 3 ABY,[2] the human gambler Ju'syl claimed to have played cards with Gungus before they had become a big hit.[1]
Behind the scenes
Skungy Gungus was first mentioned in the 2024 video game, Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. In the game they were mentioned both as part of ambient ambient conversation players can overhear in the Kijimi cardroom as well as part of the band name "Skungy Gungus and the Refractors" which is listed when players selected songs from the jukebox.[1] "If These Sands Could Speak" and "Look Up!" was composed for the game by Cody Matthew Johnson and was released with the game's soundtrack: Songs from the Underworld (Original Music from Star Wars Outlaws) on August 30, 2024. Skungy Gungus and the Refractors were listed as a "Featured Artist" for the soundtrack.[3]
