"Silt Sea Threnody" was a burial song of Nacronis,[1] a marshland planet known for its siltstorms.[2] After the Galactic Empire destroyed Nacronis as part of Operation: Cinder, "Silt Sea Threnody" was considered an indigenous song of a lost civilization.[1][2]

"Silt Sea Threnody" was first mentioned in the 2021 novel Victory's Price: An Alphabet Squadron Novel, written by Alexander Freed, as the title of the novel's second chapter. All of the chapter titles in the first part of the novel are "indigenous songs of lost civilizations." Fittingly, the "Silt Sea Threnody" chapter marks the first appearance of Yrica Quell in the story; Quell took part in the destruction of Nacronis before the events of Alphabet Squadron and thus was partially responsible for having turned Nacronis into a "lost civilization."[1]
