A showdown took place in a village on the planet Carajam between the bounty hunters Boba Fett and Zingo Gabnit.

Prelude

"Name's Zingo Gabnit. Meanest tracker in the Outer Rim back in the day. Never dropped a job, no matter how dirty. But he was never exactly by the books."

Between 2 BBY and 4 ABY,[1] the bounty hunter Boba Fett was on the Outer Rim Territories planet Carajam pursuing a pilot. While transporting the pilot's corpse, he traveled through a camp belonging to the disgraced bounty hunter Zingo Gabnit, who along with his companion Turfitch initially believed that Fett had come for him. Although Fett ignored them, he later sought out a new bounty immediately after receiving the reward for the pilot from the Bounty Hunters' Guild, and had Gabnit's background described to him by a Guild agent. Gabnit ended up betraying Turfitch to steal his water and fled across the Death Plains, where he encountered a village and began attacking its inhabitants so he could set up a trap for Fett.[2]

The showdown

"You're just like me, Fett! You'll step the wrong way someday, and they'll rub you out too! I told you! We're the best! We look out for ourselves, man!"

Gabnit attempted to lure Fett into a trap, speaking to him through a comlink that was hooked to a Thermal Detonator. Fett escaped the explosion and took Gabnit on, kicking him down. Gabnit once more attempted to bargain for his life, but when he reached for his blaster again, Fett shot him.

Aftermath

"Boba Fett! We heard about what you did. That was my sister's village. You saved her life. Thank you. Thank you!"

Fett dragged Gabnit's body into town, where he was thanked by a human named Stallo, whose sister lived in the village.

Behind the scenes

The showdown between Boba Fett and Zingo Gabnit appeared in the one-shot comic Age of Rebellion - Boba Fett 1,[2] published by Marvel Comics on May 8, 2019.[3] The comic was written by Greg Pak and pencilled by Marc Laming.[2]
