A shift coffer, also known as a Bith hiding cube, was a transparisteel cube measuring approximately three-quarters of a meter on each side and served as a small safe with the unique ability to become invisible to the naked eye. Originally designed by Bith engineers, the coffer's walls were embedded with special fiber optic relays that redirect light around the cube's surface. When seamlessly integrated into a wall, the shift coffer vanished, merging flawlessly with the surrounding wall. When placed in an open area, the coffer bent light around itself, rendering it almost invisible. Veretrex Securities had designed such a shift coffer, the Hiding Cube SCT-1000. Another known model was the "Sleepsafe" shift coffer by SecuriCorp.[1]
