The Shawpee Gang[3] was a criminal organization which was formed in the city of Mos Eisley on the planet Tatooine by a Human boy named Falk[1] and the Rodian Doda Bodonawieedo.[2] Falk gathered other youths to form a gang of[1] small-time hoodlums who prowled Mos Eisley's streets,[3] and they were initially content with break-ins, muggings, and fighting with rival gangs.[1]
In time, as they grew older, the Shawpees formed ties with Mos Eisley's criminal underworld and eventually moved into protection rackets, running numbers and spice, and fencing operations. As a minstrel and as Falk's friend, Bodonawieedo himself managed to remain relatively free of criminal activity.[1]
By 0 BBY,[4] Bodonawieedo and Falk left the Shawpees to join crime lord Jabba the Hutt's gang, which was also based on Tatooine.[1] The Shawpee Gang itself also fell in with Jabba's gang at some point preceding the Hutt's death in 4 ABY's Battle of the Great Pit of Carkoon.[5]
Behind the scenes
The Shawpee gang was first mentioned in 1997's Star Wars Trilogy Sourcebook, Special Edition, a supplement for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[1] 2008's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia uses the capitalization "Shawpee Gang."[3]
