Sense Force Potential was a Force power in the Sense family of abilities. Jedi could use the Force to probe the mind of another to determine whether or not that individual had the potential to use the Force. The subconscious of a Force-sensitive was protected by a barrier that prevented another Force user from invading their mind. The barrier violently rejected the probe as an involuntarily defense mechanism. Jedi seeking to see if an individual was Force-sensitive could deliberately stimulate the area in order to trigger a reaction.
The Sith were prolific users of this ability when determining who they would train. Aleema Keto was known to have known how to do this.[1] Darth Bane found that Zannah was a young woman of great potential[2] and that her cousin was barely able to touch the Force.[3] In their centuries of hiding, the Sith of Bane's line often used this power to find useful individuals to be taken on as apprentices.[4] Darth Vader also used this skill, discovering a boy, Reezen, who was sensitive to the Force. Vader did not train him, but did tell Reezen that he should trust his special senses in life.[5]
