Seeker crystals were a variety of kyber crystal. When used in a lightsaber, the crystals formed a pink blade and allowed the user to detect nearby beings.[1] When ignited, a blade produced by a Seeker crystal attuned to the user in the Force and allowed them to sense danger from other beings hidden nearby, although it could not be used as a compass to find the origin of the danger.[2]
The origins of these crystals were mysterious to most beings, and dark rumors about them persisted. Some said they came from outside the edges of the known galaxy, some said they were traded in exclusive black markets, and still others suggested that their original purpose was quite different from powering lightsabers.[2]
