- "But how can Anakin be a pilot? He's just a slave.
In this life, you can do lots of things, how you end up is on you." - ―Seek and a spacer on Anakin Skywalker
Seek was a red-headed male Human living in the slave quarters of Mos Espa on Tatooine. As a child, he knew Anakin Skywalker before the boy left to train as a Jedi on Coruscant.
Biography
Seek was a young Human[2] male who was the local bully of the Slave Quarters Row in the[3] city[5] Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine.[3] He was a friend of the slave Anakin Skywalker. Like Skywalker's other friend, Kitster Chanchani Banai, Seek wanted to become a pilot and leave Tatooine, never to come back.[6] He also befriended the young slave girl, Melee. The ill-tempered duo of Melee and Seek would often tease the children who dared to dream of a better life beyond Mos Espa,[3] even though he had his own dream.[6]
During an evening[4] some point prior to or during 32 BBY,[7] Seek and Banai sneaked into a junkyard in Mos Espa after Skywalker lost a Podrace to the Dug Podracer Sebulba. Skywalker's enslaver, Watto, ordered him to fix to damaged Podracer until dark, though the pair called out for him. One of them congratulated Skywalker before a nervous Seek asked Skywalker if Watto was around, though he was assured he was not by Skywalker. Banai suggested they get drinks, and the trio drank ruby bliels and listened in on pilots talking about their adventures. A space pilot complemented Skywalker's performance in the race. The pilot added that when he was a kid, that he could not drive a landspeeder as a kid, but still dreamed of being a pilot. Skywalker asked if he could become a pilot, and the man assured him that if he could fly a podracer, he could become a pilot. Seek asked the pilot how the enslaved Skywalker could become one, and the man told him that your fate was dependent on yourself.[4]
On the eve of the Boonta Eve Classic podrace, Seek and Melee joined Anakin's friends as young Skywalker tested his Podracer in the backyard of his hovel. Melee was doubtful that the racer would ever run, and Seek, bored of Anakin's achievements, suggested him and his friends go play ball rather than help Anakin prepare. However, Seek and Melee attended the race, though Melee – harboring a secret crush on the young podracer – left Seek's side to watch Anakin's performance from the grandstands. When Anakin left Tatooine, Melee returned to Seek, though now with a more positive outlook on life than her sour friend.
