Sedge grass was a type of long grass that was tan[1] or black[2] in color when dried. The Mimbanese natives of the planet Mimban wore thatch bundles of dried sedge grass attached to their clothing, armor, and backpacks as camouflage in order to conceal them in the sparse underbrush of the muddy Mimban battlefields while fighting the Galactic Empire during its Mimban Campaign.[1]
The Mimbanese leader, Iasento,[1] was wearing sedge grass camouflage when he was killed during the fighting[4] in 10 BBY.[5] Iasento was pictured wearing sedge grass camouflage in an artist's journal, which was restored, expanded, and displayed by the Graf Archive[3] at some point no earlier than 34 ABY.[6]
Behind the scenes
Sedge grass first appeared in Star Wars in the 2018 Anthology film, Solo: A Star Wars Story,[4] and was first identified in the accompanying reference book Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1]
