Development
Filming for the behind-the-scenes documentary Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey began during pre-production on the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Various filmmakers and cast members involved in the movie were filmed and interviewed throughout the film's production.[3]
Release and reception
A review in The Hollywood Reporter of the documentary's film festival premiere expressed puzzlement that a home video featurette was screened in that venue as a publicity move, and regarded the title's "secrets" as dishonest about the "rote making-of" content.[4] A staff writer at The Atlantic offered a more favorable impression, particularly of the alternate designs showcased.[3]
