Cha: "You know how I called our group the Orphans? It's not just to sound tough."
Ladybright: "Of course not. It is literal. I am the last of my factory line. Sear's parents died long ago. Imara Vex is—"
Vex: "My parents technically could be alive, but I haven't seen them since I was too young to remember."
―The Oprhans Chanath Cha, Ladybright, and Imara Vex discuss the group's naming[2]

The parents of the human female Sear were at least two individuals who died long before[2] the time between 3 ABY and 4 ABY. During that time,[1] the fact that Sear's parents were long since passed away was brought up by the droid Ladybright when the Orphans[2]—a group of warriors[3] led by[2] the bounty hunter[4] Chanath Cha that Sear was part of—spoke about the meaning behind the group's name.[2]

Behind the scenes

The parents of Sear was mentioned in the first issue of the 2021 comic miniseries Star Wars: Crimson Reign. The issue was written by Charles Soule and published by Marvel Comics[2] on December 8, 2021.[5]

  1. 1.0 1.1 StarWars.com Hidden Empire Revealed: Charles Soule on Marvel's Next Star Wars Epic – Exclusive on StarWars.com (backup link) establishes that the events of Star Wars: Crimson Reign, including Crimson Reign 1, take place between the events of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, which are dated to 3 ABY and 4 ABY, respectively, by Star Wars: Timelines. As Crimson Reign 1 establishes that Sear's parents died prior to its events, they must have passed away by the time between those two years.
