The Scyre dialect was a dialect of the Galactic Basic language that was spoken on the primitive planet Parnassos. It was spoken by the Scyre and their rival Claw clan. The dialect differed strongly enough from Galactic Basic Standard that the protocol droid DDM-38 facilitated translation between First Order General Brendol Hux and the locals of Parnassos when Hux's ship crashed on the planet. However, when spoken slowly and with effort on the part of the listener, Galactic Basic Standard and the Scyre dialect were mutually intelligible.[1]
The forces of the First Order considered the Scyre dialect to be primitive. The dialect lacked words for "government" and "military". Relative to Galactic Basic Standard, the Scyre dialect had shorter vowels and longer consonant sounds. Phasma natively spoke the Scyre dialect, but quickly adapted her accent and speech patterns to match the Standard dialect used by Brendol Hux upon meeting him.[1]
