Scum-squids were a type of carnivorous squid that could eat humans and were found on[1] the Hutt Space and Outer Rim[2] moon Nar Shaddaa.[1] In 0 ABY,[3] after the Jedi-in-training Luke Skywalker entered a bar on Nar Shaddaa and told its patrons that he wanted a ride to[1] the Core Worlds planet[2] Coruscant, the bar's Zabrak bartender told the patrons to kill Skywalker, rob him and then feed him to the scum-squids.[1]

After fighting several of the patrons, Skywalker revealed he had a lightsaber, leading the Zabrak to attempt to strike a deal of getting the Jedi to Coruscant in exchange for his lightsaber, which Skywalker did not agree to. In response, the bartender told the patrons to follow the original plan of killing the Jedi and feeding him to the scum-squids, though Skywalker was able to escape and chased after a thief who had stolen his lightsaber.[1]

Behind the scenes

Scum-squids was mentioned in the eighth issue of the 2015 comic series Star Wars. The issue was written by Jason Aaron and published by Marvel Comics[1] on August 19, 2015.[4]
