"Scouting Report SS-176.01, Imperial Year One …" was a short story that was published in the Heir to the Empire Sourcebook by West End Games in 1992. It was republished in 1996 as part of The Thrawn Trilogy Sourcebook.

Plot summary

In 18 BBY,[2] Scout Keog Boorn sets down on the planet Dagobah, tracking a beckon call signal, only to be scared off while approaching the Dark Side Cave.

Development

In the 1992 version of the story, the final paragraph reveals that Yoda had been observing the scout, and that he was the cause of the howl that ultimately scared Boorn off; the 1996 reprint omits the final paragraph.
